Finding Cheap Flights Today

I for one love to travel but just buying an airline ticket these days can be an economic nightmare! Finding cheap airline tickets is such a hot selling point for the airlines that the search term "cheap flights" in search engines is looked up over 2 million times every month. Why is that?

Say you want to take a week off to go somewhere 500 miles or more away from where you live. I don't know about you, but In the Caribbean where I live.....a short island hopping trip of just 40 miles can run you $150 or more round trip. That's $1.87 a mile! Take that for fuel economy.....even the biggest gas guzzling trucks get better gas mileage than that.

The truth is that if you really want to find cheap flights, the best thing to do is shop around. Visit different websites, travel in the middle of the week and look for late night flights. The more popular travel booking sites usually have around the same rates but about 10% of the time, one will have a lower rate on unused seats that are not selling to well.

My best and most time tested savings will come in packages. The airlines, hotels and car rental companies are working together so if you book all three in a package.....the savings can be huge.

I tend to use all three services on a trip because of my independent nature. I like to be able to come and go as I please all while learning the area I am visiting.

Bottom line......you have to do a number of things in order to save on travel. Don't stay loyal to one airline, one website, one hotel chain or one car rental company and you will have more money to spend while on your trip.
